  • Department of Advanced Networking and Telecommunications of the Institute is actively engaged in the research the following areas. Currently, the research focus of the department includes:
    • High Performance Optical Switching
    • Mobile Adhoc and Sensor Networks
    • QoS in Broadband Networks for Multiplay Services
    • Development of Networks Access Devices

The research undertaken in above areas in last few years resulted collaborations with several universities/organizations such as State Key Laboratory of Optoelectronics, Sun Yat Sen University, China; Wireless Networking Group, International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Italy and Nokia Siemens Networks. Recently, the department has successfully completed a research project funded by Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. Details of the projects completed and in progress are as below:

    High Performance Optical Switching:
    • Impact of Crosstalk Power Penalty in Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexed Polymeric Single-Mode Bus Arrays:
(Funded by Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India under Fast Track Scheme for Young Scientists)
    • Investigation of Crosstalk and Interference Penalties in Low Power Optical Switching Devices for Optical Packet Switching Networks

    Mobile Adhoc and Sensor Networks:
    • Temporal Characteristics of Communication Links in Wireless Sensor Networks:
    • Energy Efficient Routing Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks:

QoS in Broadband Networks for Multiplay Services:
    • End to End QoS Provisioning in Next Generation Networks:
